Breast augmentation prices in Chicago can look confusing from the outside. One practice lists a number that seems low, another quotes nearly double, and neither explains what is included. If you are trying to plan a budget, that is not much help.

This guide covers breast augmentation cost in Chicago: the typical price range in the area, what a complete quote contains, the choices that move your total up or down, and what to plan for in the years after your procedure.

Quick Answer: How Much Is Breast Augmentation in Chicago?

In the Chicago area, breast augmentation typically ranges from $6,500 to $12,000 or more. Your total depends mainly on the implant you choose, the technique, and whether another procedure, such as a breast lift, is part of your plan.

These are the general ranges published in our Chicago cost guide, not a quote. Your exact price is confirmed after a consultation, once your surgical plan is set.

What a Complete Quote Includes

A breast augmentation price is made of several parts. When you compare practices, make sure each quote covers all of them.

Part of the quoteWhat it covers
Surgeon's feePlanning, the procedure, and your surgeon's expertise
ImplantsThe devices themselves; price varies by type
Anesthesia feeThe anesthesia provider and medications
Facility feeThe accredited operating room, staff, and equipment
Garments and follow-upSurgical bra and post-operative visits

The Surgeon's Fee

This reflects training, experience, and the planning that goes into matching an implant to your anatomy. That training is what you are relying on for your safety and your result.

The Implants

Implants are priced by type and manufacturer. This is the line that changes most from one patient to the next.

Anesthesia and Facility Fees

These cover the anesthesia provider, the operating room, the nursing team, and equipment. Accredited facilities meet set safety standards, and those standards are part of what you are paying for.

Garments and Follow-Up

Many quotes include a surgical bra and your post-operative visits. Some practices bill them separately, so ask.

Some advertised prices show only the surgeon's fee. Ask for the all-in total in writing so you are comparing like with like.

How Implant Choice Changes the Price

The implant is usually the biggest variable.

Saline Implants

Saline implants generally carry the lowest price. The shell is placed empty and then filled with sterile salt water, which allows a slightly shorter incision. If a saline implant leaks, the breast deflates visibly and the body absorbs the saline. Some patients find saline feels firmer than silicone, particularly when there is little natural breast tissue to cover it.

Silicone Gel Implants

Silicone gel implants cost more and are chosen by many patients for their soft, natural feel. They arrive pre-filled. A rupture may not be visible, which is why the FDA recommends periodic imaging.

Highly Cohesive "Gummy Bear" Implants

These implants use a thicker gel that holds its shape firmly. They sit toward the higher end of the range.

Motiva Implants and the Preservé Technique

Motiva implants are generally priced above standard silicone implants. The Motiva Preservé technique pairs these implants with specialized instruments and a tissue-preserving approach, which can affect the price.

If you are weighing Preservé against a traditional approach, our comparison of Motiva Preservé vs. traditional breast augmentation explains what is different, and the Motiva Preservé page covers the technique itself.

Does Size Affect the Price?

Only slightly. A larger implant of the same type costs about the same as a smaller one. Type and technique matter far more than volume.

How Technique Affects Breast Augmentation Cost

Placement. Implants can be placed under the chest muscle or over it. Placement under the muscle is often more involved, which can add operating time.

Incision. A common incision is in the fold beneath the breast. The choice of incision has a modest effect on cost compared with implant type.

Operating time. Anesthesia and facility fees are tied to time, so a more involved plan costs more in both.

Placement and incision are chosen for your anatomy and the result you want. They are not decisions to make on price.

How Adding a Procedure Changes the Price

Breast Lift

Implants add volume. They do not raise a breast that has dropped after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss. If the nipple sits at or below the breast fold, a lift may be recommended alongside implants.

A lift adds operating time and raises the total, though less than having two separate surgeries. Patients sometimes ask whether a larger implant can take the place of a lift. It usually cannot, and using one for that purpose can leave the breast sitting low and may worsen sagging over time. Our guide to a breast lift with implants explains when the combination makes sense.

Fat Transfer

Some patients add a small amount of their own fat through fat transfer to soften the edges of an implant or refine the contour. This requires liposuction of a donor area, which adds to the cost.

As Part of a Mommy Makeover

Breast augmentation is often combined with a tummy tuck. The combined price is higher than either alone, but lower than two separate surgeries, because anesthesia and facility fees are paid once.

Where Three Typical Patients Might Land

These examples are illustrations, not quotes.

  • A patient in her twenties with good skin tone who chooses saline implants would be toward the lower end of the range.
  • A patient who chooses silicone gel implants with no lift would typically be in the middle.
  • A mother who needs a lift along with her implants, or a patient who chooses Motiva Preservé, may be toward the upper end or above it.

Does Location Within Chicagoland Matter?

It can. Overhead varies by location and can affect pricing from one practice to another. Kapadia Plastic Surgery sees patients at our Elk Grove Village office and our Chicago office in Lakeview, and pricing is based on your surgical plan.

Does Insurance Cover Breast Augmentation?

No. Breast augmentation for cosmetic reasons is not covered by insurance.

Breast reconstruction after mastectomy is a separate situation. Under the Women's Health and Cancer Rights Act, most plans that cover mastectomy must also cover reconstruction, but that is a different procedure with a different process.

Because augmentation is cosmetic, HSA and FSA funds generally cannot be used for it (IRS Publication 502). Check with your plan administrator if you are unsure.

Long-Term Costs to Know About

Breast implants are not lifetime devices. Planning for the long term is part of an informed decision.

  • Monitoring. For silicone gel implants, the FDA recommends routine monitoring with an ultrasound or MRI five to six years after surgery and every two to three years after that, to check for silent rupture. Insurance may not cover this screening, so ask.
  • Future surgery. Many patients have another breast procedure at some point, whether to exchange implants, change size, or address changes from aging or pregnancy. There is no fixed expiration date, and implants that are causing no concerns do not need to be replaced on a schedule. According to the FDA, the longer you have implants, the greater the chance of complications, and some complications require more surgery.
  • Warranties. Implant manufacturers offer warranty programs that may help with certain costs if a covered problem occurs. Ask what applies to your implant and what it does and does not cover.
  • Mammograms. Tell your imaging center that you have implants. Additional views are usually taken.

Costs Patients Forget to Plan For

  • Time away from work. Most patients take one to two weeks away from work and routine activity.
  • Help at home. You will have lifting limits for several weeks, which matters if you have young children.
  • Prescriptions. These are usually billed by your pharmacy.
  • New bras. Wait until your implants settle before buying, usually around three months.
  • Pre-operative testing. Lab work or a mammogram may be requested depending on your age and history.

Our breast augmentation recovery guide covers what those weeks look like.

Implants vs. Fat Transfer: A Cost Note

Some patients ask whether fat transfer breast augmentation is a less expensive alternative to implants. It is a different procedure with a different result. Fat transfer uses liposuction to collect your own fat and place it in the breasts. It offers a modest increase in size, usually less than implants can provide, and it has no implant cost. It does include the cost of liposuction and a longer operating time.

Which one represents better value depends on the change you are looking for. A patient who wants a subtle increase and has enough donor fat may prefer fat transfer. A patient who wants a predictable, larger change will usually be better served by implants.

Thinking About Value, Not Only Price

A well-planned breast augmentation can serve you for many years. Three things protect that investment:

  • An implant that fits your frame. Matching the implant to your chest width and tissue is a core principle of planning.
  • A surgeon with the right training. Careful planning and technique matter for both safety and results.
  • Following your recovery instructions. Lifting limits and support bras protect the result while tissues heal.

The least expensive option up front can cost more in the end if it leads to a second surgery.

Financing Breast Augmentation

Many patients choose to pay over time. Kapadia Plastic Surgery works with Cherry, PatientFi, and ALPHAEON CREDIT. Rates and approval depend on the lender, so review each plan's current terms before deciding. Our team can help you compare options, and our financing page has more detail.

Why the Lowest Quote Is Rarely the Best Value

Revision surgery adds cost. Before choosing on price, confirm:

  • Board certification. Look for certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
  • Facility accreditation. The operating facility should be accredited.
  • Anesthesia credentials. Ask who provides anesthesia.
  • Photos of similar patients. Results on a frame like yours tell you more than a price list.
  • Aftercare. Know who you call with a question during recovery.

Choosing an implant that fits your chest width and tissue is a core principle of surgical planning. Implants that exceed what the tissue can support may raise the risk of problems such as malposition or visible edges.

What Happens at a Pricing Consultation

Your consultation is a no-pressure conversation. Dr. Kapadia will:

  1. Ask about your goals and what "natural" or "full" means to you.
  2. Measure your chest width, existing tissue, and skin quality.
  3. Explain which implant types and sizes fit your anatomy.
  4. Tell you whether a lift would improve your result.
  5. Review recovery, risks, and long-term care.

You will then receive a personalized quote for your specific plan.

Questions to Ask About Your Quote

  • Is this the total, or are anesthesia and facility fees separate?
  • Which implant brand and type does this price include?
  • Are my surgical bra and follow-up visits included?
  • What happens if I need a revision? Who covers which costs?
  • When is payment due, and what forms of payment do you accept?
  • How long is this quote valid?

How to Compare Quotes

  1. Ask for the all-in total, including implants, anesthesia, and facility.
  2. Confirm the implant brand and type in each quote.
  3. Check whether a lift is included or recommended.
  4. Ask about follow-up visits and the revision policy.
  5. Verify credentials for the surgeon and the facility.
  6. Ask what warranty comes with the implant.

What is included in the price?

A complete quote includes the surgeon's fee, implants, anesthesia, the facility fee, and usually a surgical bra and follow-up visits.

Are silicone implants more expensive than saline?

Generally, yes. Silicone gel implants cost more than saline, and highly cohesive implants often sit higher still.

Does Motiva Preservé cost more?

Generally, yes. Motiva implants are generally priced above standard silicone implants, and the technique uses specialized instruments.

How much does adding a lift cost?

A lift adds operating time and raises the total. The amount depends on the type of lift you need, which is determined at your consultation.

Does insurance cover breast implants?

Not for cosmetic augmentation. Reconstruction after mastectomy is handled differently.

Can I finance breast augmentation?

Yes. We work with Cherry, PatientFi, and ALPHAEON CREDIT.
